These full-day workshops give you the opportunity to sequester away with NOC's elite paddling school instruction team, working out your kayak skills on advanced Southeastern Rivers. Learn access points and various lines on rapids on the Nolichucky, Ocoee, or Chattooga Rivers - it's an exciting course for boaters with intermediate to advanced paddling skills. Students should have the following prerequisites:
- Be able to confidently paddle Class III Whitewater
- Have a reliable combat roll in Class III Whitewater
- Have the ability to self-rescue
- Have the ability to help with group-rescues in Class III Whitewater
Participants must be 18 years or older.
Nolichucky River: Discover this hidden gem in one of the deepest gorges east of the Mississippi! The Nolichucky River is as beautiful and scenic as it is exciting and powerful. This remote river offers great opportunities for river runners and those who want to play on the river.
Ocoee River: This classic Southeastern river is a must-do for any kayaker who is looking for an adrenaline rush. The Ocoee provides plenty of play spots, and this workshop will focus on those popular areas and downriver lines.
Chattooga River: Known as one of the Nation's premiere whitewater destinations, the Chattooga River runs along the border between South Carolina and Georgia. A designated "Wild and Scenic" River, the Chattooga brings big whitewater and views to match. This workshop will focus on exploring the many features of Section III.
I learned SO much and had lots of fun. We worked on skills I was ready for and pushed me to try new things. It was great to feel successful even on the harder stuff and to fine-tune paddling strokes. It was a great week!
