CAMP UPDATE: In light of the risks associated with COVID-19, NOC is modifying our operations across all locations including canceling all 2020 summer overnight camps for the season. We WILL continue to host Summer Day Camps this season with modified guidelines for health and safety, see our COVID-19 Response Page. Feel free to contact us with any questions. Family Fun Days at the close of camp week are tentative and we will provide updates as it approaches.

Unlike any other summer camp, NOC’s Overnight Summer Camps are an exciting way for young paddlers to learn on the water and make new friends along the way! Paddlers ages 9-17 spend an entire week on the rivers and lakes of Western North Carolina under 24-hour supervision of NOC Paddling School Instructors. Our Summer Camps are open to paddlers of any experience level – the group will be separated by skill levels so that each paddler receives the best learning opportunities.

Campers will spend time on the lake focusing on learning new skills and refining the skills they already have through fun drills and games. Then, campers & instructors move to the rivers to put those skills to work! Rivers paddled will depend on the skill level of the group, but rotating favorites include NantahalaTuckasegee GorgeTuckasegee in Bryson CityFrench BroadLittle Tennessee, and Cartecay. The final day of camp is Family Fun Friday where parents are invited to join us on a section of the Nantahala River to see their paddlers show off their new moves. This is followed by a riverside lunch and brief closing ceremony. Parents who don’t have their own kayak and gear can rent a place on an NOC Guided raft at a discounted rate and join the group on the water.

Each evening is filled with more adventure, from navigating NOC’s Zip Line Adventure Park, a multi-level ropes course, to Paddleboarding on Lake Fontana, enjoying time with fellow campers by the firepit, and even movie nights.

The final day of camp is "Family Fun Friday" where parents are invited to join the campers on a section of the Nantahala River. Kids will be able to show off their new moves and skills during this paddle. A riverside lunch and closing ceremony will cap off the end of a successful week. Parents who do not own gear or are not paddlers can rent a place on an NOC Guided Raft at a discounted rate and join the group on the water!

Youth camps are also a great way for parents to take advantage of our other Paddling School Courses for themselves while their child is participating in one of our camps.

My kids loved the activities and learned so much.

NOC has been a part of our family for years. It was a no-brainer that our kids would grow up with them too!

My children left camp able to teach me new things and I've been paddling for years!
